The paparazzo who Britney Spears attacked with an umbrella during her 2007 meltdown is selling the item to the highest bidder.
Photographer Daniel Ramos told Broadly on Tuesday, the 10-year-anniversary of the infamous incident, that he’s auctioning off the green umbrella and plans to donate half of the proceeds to a charity of Spears' choice.
10 YEARS AGO: THE NIGHT BRITNEY SPEARS SHAVED HER HEAD
In 2007, the pop star, who was faced with an ongoing custody battle with her then-estranged husband Kevin Federline, and had recently shaved her own head at an LA salon, was swarmed by photographers at a gas station. She then went on the attack, swinging her umbrella at Ramos’ Ford Explorer and yelling “f—k you.” Spears then dropped the umbrella, ran into her car and sped off. Another photographer handed the umbrella to Ramos.
“It was a bad moment in her life,” said Ramos. “Unfortunately it was captured.”
A few months later in 2007, Spears wrote on her website: “I apologize to the pap for a stunt that was done 4 months ago regarding an umbrella. I was preparing my character for a role in a movie where the husband never plays his part so they switch places accidentally. I take all my roles very seriously and got a little carried away. Unfortunately I didn’t get the part.”
BRITNEY SPEARS REFERENCES HER 'HORRIBLE' 20S
Spears was placed on two psychiatric holds the following year. Despite a successful comeback, including starring in a Vegas residency show, she and her estate remain under a conservatorship run by her father, Jamie Spears.
Ramos quit working as a paparazzo in 2013 to focus on filmmaking shortly after Kanye West allegedly assaulted him. West settled Ramos’ lawsuit against him two years later.
Spears has not commented on Ramos’ auction.
